Description of solution
After the river bank of the Lobach has been flattened in the llast years, there is hardly any vegetation left. Therefore the chapter Seeg of the Bund Naturschutz decided after consultation with the municipality, the lower nature protection authority, the water management office, the fishery cooperative and adjacent farmers to restore a natural riparian vegetation on some bank areas with site-appropriate and water-typical plants. At four sections along the watercourse, about 250 typical watercourse edge plants such as grey and red alder, various willow species, parson's cap, alder buckthorn, sessile cherry, red dogwood and white birch were planted and then fenced in. All newly created areas north of the Buchach Bridge are owned by the community, the water management office or the Moorallianz. By planting woods the chapter hopes to prevent erosion, create shaded areas and improve biodiversity. In addition, the planted shrubs and trees can form a link between the water and the adjoining cultural landscape and develop into valuable fringing biotopes that provide habitats for a diverse flora and fauna. The action is part of the Bachmuschelprojekt of the Bund Naturschutz.
