Summary (Challenges; Objectives)
The originally natural gradient is largely removed as a consequence of the straightening of the Iller by the erected transverse structures. This created stretches of water with a low gradient and the pre-alpine flowing water properties were lost. Through the construction of side arms, an attempt is being made to create an extended watercourse habitat with natural bed layers and high habitat function. It enables an approximation to the natural, branched course of the watercourse with its numerous side channels. The measure is part of the project Agile Iller.
