Summary (Challenges; Objectives)
To improve flood protection and the habitat quality for flora and fauna and to prevent depth erosion in the Lech the project LIFE Lech II, consisting of 11 measures, was brought to life. The water authority Kempten is project partner and project sponsor of the measure C11 close to Füssen. 8 groynes were built to reactivite the relocation of the Lech and to develop a branched wild river landscape. The groynes are constructed according to the "Instream River Training" principle. They are significantly reduced in height compared to classical groynes and will help the Lech to develop itself from the inside out. In addition, a spur was created to divert the main flow of the Lech.
